5 Things: Who Else Loves Cupcakes?

I keep a close watch on this Patch of mine.

1. Your weather report: There will be some sun in the morning today with increasing clouds during the afternoon. Temperatures will reach a high of 40 degrees. Tonight, some clouds early will give way to generally clear conditions overnight. Expect an overnight low of 23 degrees. The sun should be making more of an appearance tomorrow.

2. Sweet! Join Amherst Recreation and instructor is April Pedroza for a fun filled (and sugar filled) cupcake class. Find out how to make delicious homemade cupcakes with style and pizzazz. Each child (grades 5-8) will leave with a dozen cupcakes to bring home. The class will take place on Thursday, Dec. 13 from 2:30-4 p.m. in the Amherst Middle School Life Skills Room. The fee is $24 for residents and $34 for nonresidents.

3. Patch Fact: Adonis was a handsome youth in Greek mythology. Adonis's beauty attracted Aphrodite, the goddess of love. Fun Fact: He is a close relative to Patch Editor Robert Michaelson (he wishes.)

4. Burning popcorn? If you left the microwave on too long while you were cooking popcorn, there is hope to get the smell out. Simply place a tea bag in water and put it in the microwave for a minute.

5. YOUR future. You are invited to the Nashua Regional Planning Commission's open house on Thursday, Nov. 29. The event, which has NRPC staff available to talk about regional priorities and challenges, will take place at the commission's offices at 9 Executive Park Drive in Merrimack, and scheduled to run from 5-7 p.m.
