5. Saber Student-Athlete of the week. Junior Mike Hayden has been selected by the Souhegan Varsity Coaches as the Saber Student-Athlete of the week for the Week of September 3rd. "Mike, is a Junior forward on the Boys Varsity Soccer team. In nominating Mike, Head Varsity Coach David Saxe wrote, “Mike has been instrumental in so many ways during the first 2 weeks of our season. This week, not only did he score the game winner against Trinity, and 2 wonderful goals against Milford, he created a number of other opportunities for the team. We are keying off his outrageous work rate as he pressures our opponents in their own half. He consistently threatens whether he has the ball or not, unbalancing opponents and creating havoc for them. Perhaps best of all about Mike, is his incredibly positive attitude every day at training. There is no doubt he has one of the best work ethics ever seen at SHS Soccer, and he is always doing it with a smile. A pure competitor, Mike plays with intensity and skill every second, pushing his team mates and opponents to play their very best all the time. This man knows how to honor the game.
