Stove Shop Giving Away Pellet Stove in Essay Contest

Three days left to apply for prize to be awarded to a veteran or veteran's family.

There are still three days left to apply for the opportunity to win a free pellet stove installation from All Basics Stove Shop in Merrimack.

The shop, which installs wood stoves, pellet stoves, gas stoves and fireplace inserts, announced in September that it was offering a special prize to a veteran or veteran's family who has experienced a loss – a free pellet stove, installation and half a ton of pellet fuel.

The stove shop invited people to submit letters or essays about why the person or family they were nominating should be on the receiving end of this deal.

In a letter announcing the giveaway, Dave Yakuboff, retired longtime owner of All Basics said it was another opportunity to support a veteran or their family.

"All Basics Stove Shop has always supported our Veterans. I served in the US Navy for almost 10 years of active service, and my son also served in the US Army and completed two tours in Iraq. Both of us as well as any veteran who served knew how hard it was financially and the sacrifices their family deals with," Yakuboff said.

Letters and /or essays will be accepted until Friday, Nov. 1, 2013, and should be dropped off or mailed to All Basics Stove Shop at 236 D.W. Highway, Merrimack, NH 03054. The selected winner will be notified on Nov. 1 and be publicly announced on Veterans Day, Nov. 11.

The winner of the giveaway will receive a new pellet stove, floor protection, professional installation with parts, and a half a ton of  premium pellet fuel – a total estimated value of about $3,000.

Because pellet stoves can be vented from a home like a dryer, it is not necessary to have a chimney.

Below are the eligibility requirements:

  • Active veteran, veteran who served, veteran's spouse, any veteran active or inactive that is experienced a hardship or loss of a loved one.
  • Proof of service by member or spouse.
  • Due to the installation area, this will be only installed in Southern New Hampshire.
  • Any child of a veteran can also write the letter or essay. All information in letters or essays will be destroyed after the selection process and will be kept confidential in nature.
  • No employee of All Basics Stove Shop will be eligible to win. If you are a friend or family member who feels that a veteran needs a little help in these tough times, you too may write the letter or essay and apply for them.
