Amherst Incumbents Seek Re-election

Several current Amherst officials take out candidacy papers on the first day of the filing period.

On the first day of the Amherst town election filing period, several incumbent towns officials a few new candidates officially threw their hats into the political ring for the March 11 town election.

Town Clerk Nancy Demers, who filed for re-election for another three-year term, said a total of eight people filed their papers at her office on Wednesday before 3 p.m. They are as follows:

  • Cemetery Trustee Marie Grella is running for another three years .
  • Selectman Tom Grella is also running for another three year term.
  • Moderator Stephen Coughlin hopes to get re-elected for another two years.
  • Library Trustee Nancy Head, who served as an alternate in 2013, is running for a three-year term.
  • Newcomer Kimberly Ayers is seeking a three year term on the Board of Library Trustees.
  • Trustee of the Trust Funds Kenneth Sheldon hopes to serve another three years.
  • Supervisor of the Checklist Jeanne Ludt is seeking another six years in office.
The current filing period for Amherst town offices will run through Jan. 31 at 5 p.m.

Candidates who file for the Amherst town elected offices are also welcome to post letters to the editor and their photos on Amherst Patch to tell voters why they are running for office.
