AMHERST, NH — Amherst police and fire Departments responded to a reported bomb threat earlier today in the area of Northern Boulevard on Sunday.

Police received a credible threat and promptly initiated an investigation in coordination with relevant agencies. At approximately 11:30 a.m., the police received the information regarding potential explosive devices in that area. Officers, in collaboration with Amherst Fire Rescue, quickly secured the area, evacuated nearby premises, and initiated safety protocols to ensure the protection of residents and visitors.

The New Hampshire State Police Bomb Squad was deployed to thoroughly inspect the area and ascertain the threat's credibility. After an extensive search and investigation, it was determined that the reported threat posed no immediate danger.

Police said it took all threats to public safety extremely seriously.

"Our priority is the safety and security of our community members," a statement said, "and we want to reassure the public that the area has been thoroughly cleared and deemed safe."
