Amherst Teen Seriously Injured In Fall From Tree, Flown By Helicopter

AMHERST, NH—Amherst Fire Rescue and police responded to Simeon Wilson Road on Thursday to a report of a teenager who had fallen over 30 feet from a tree.

Responders were advised the victim was a teenage girl who had serious injuries from the fall. Amherst Fire requested a medical helicopter due to the severity of the injuries.

While firefighters and medics worked on the victim at the home, a landing zone was established for the helicopter at the parking lot of Souhegan High School.

Amherst Ambulance transported the girl to the landing zone. A short time later, a Life Flight helicopter from UMASS Medical Center landed to provide medical care and transport her to the hospital for further treatment.

Amherst Fire confirmed the girl was climbing in a tree on her family’s property, which has been done previously. The girl fell, hitting some branches as she fell, and was seriously injured. Amherst Fire confirmed she was conscious, breathing, and alert when loaded into the helicopter.

At this time, the girl's specific injuries and condition are unknown.
