Antiques On The Green This Weekend

The Amherst Historical Society's event will be on Saturday, Sept. 15 from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.

Don’t miss the 17th annual “Antiques on the Green” event on Saturday, Sept. 15 from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.on the historic Amherst Village Green. This is a rain or shine event.

This highly anticipated show and sale presented by the Historical Society includes some 30 dealers and features many items such as country furniture and decorative pieces (stone ware and kitchen items, etc.), architectural and garden items, fine silver and glass, dolls and toys, books, textiles, art and jewelry.

Admission fee is $5. Proceeds are used to support the preservation of local artifacts, the study of Amherst history, and a scholarship which is awarded annually to a graduating high school senior from Amherst who plans to study history or a related field.

Verbal appraisals will be performed during the show, free of charge (one item appraised with each show admission fee) from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. by well known, local expert, Jason Hackler, owner/manager of the New Hampshire Antique Co-op of Milford.

Their two museums are within walking distance of the Common and will be open the day of the show. There is no charge to enter the Wigwam or Chapel museums.

Those attending can also enjoy dulcimer music by Sandy Lafleur, a bake sale sponsored by the Society and food from various local vendors including pizza, hot dogs, chili, sweets, and ice cream. Visitors can also take advantage of the book sale sponsored by the Amherst Town Library at the Congregational Church adjacent to the Village Green.
