
Selectmen to meet. The Amherst Selectmen will meet Monday, Oct. 21, at 6:30 p.m. for a regularly scheduled meeting. On the agenda are the next two strategic plan presentations, from the Community Development office and the Department of Public Works. The board will also receive a town hall repair update discuss a Boy Scout Halloween Fundraiser and more. The full agenda is available on the town website.
SAU 39 board meeting. The SAU 39 joint school board will meet on Thursday, Oct. 24, at Amherst Middle School at 5:45 p.m. Among the agenda items are strategic planning and the first draft of the FY 2015 budget. Get the full agenda on the school district website.
Scope out the Orionids. Another spectacular meteor shower is upon us and expected to remain at its peak Monday, Oct. 21. The Orionids should provide a great show in darkened skies, but a bright moon may hamper optimal visibility of the meteors streaking across the sky. The shower is expected to continue to Nov. 7. Celebrate at Harvest Fest. Join Messiah Lutheran Church for its annual Harvest Fest on Saturday, Oct. 26, from 4-7 p.m. Enjoy foods to include slow cooked pulled pork and buns, side dishes and baked beans, salads and slaws, pies and more. There will also be games – think bobbing for apples, doughnots on a string, scarecrow stuffing and others and music including an open-mic Karaoke is planned for those brave enough to solo. Halloween Spooktacular. Calling all goblins, ghosts and ghouls! Scoot over to Merrimack to a haunted Camp Sargent for some spooky fun on Saturday, Oct. 26 from 2-5 p.m.! Check out our haunted house, take a hayride, play games and more! Wear your Halloween costume. Free and open to the public. Camp Sargent is located at 141 Camp Sargent Road in Merrimack.
