Concert on the Green, Shark Attacks and Bees

Some useful things to know today courtesy of Patch.

1. Weather Report: Today will have intervals of clouds and sunshine. High near 80F. Winds SSE at 5 to 10 mph. Tonight will have a few clouds. Low 57F. Winds light and variable.

2. Don't Forget: An expert beekeeper will be visiting the Amherst Town Library to talk about her experience running a colony. The event is free and open to the public, but registration is required. You can register for this event by calling 673-2288, emailing library@amherst.lib.nh.us or by visiting our website at www.amherst.lib.nh.us and selecting “Calendar of Events.” 

3. Concert Tonight! The Tuesday Concerts on the Green continues this summer. The Bedford Big Band will play on the Village Green at 6:30 p.m. tonight. You’re invited to come early and choose your spot- with your picnic and a blanket or chairs you will ready to enjoy the entertainment! In the event of rain, an alternate location for the concert will be posted on the Amherst Recreation website and on their Facebook page the day of the concert.

4. ICYMI: Amherst Recreation has received funding to make some changes on the Baboosic Lake Beach, thanks to the work of a dedicated Amherst resident. Read more.

5. Fact of the Day: Did you know: It is very rare for a shark to make repeated attacks and actually feed on a human victim. The shark is simply mistaking a human for something it usually eats.
