New Amherst Pottery Studio Offers Customized Creations

New pottery studio/handmade gift store Color Me Clayful is open for business in Carriage Depot Plaza.

A new Amherst business is bringing the world of art to craft lovers of all ages.

Malene Hammerich opened Color Me Clayful in the Carriage Depot Plaza last month to share her passion for the arts with the community.

The pottery studio offers a variety of bisque items to paint, including plates, kitchenware, jars, superheroes and more. They also offer clay to work with and create your own work of art.

Hammerich is also planning to host classes for woodworking, jewelry-making, beading and other craftmaking. The studio is also available for parties.

The young business owner said that she has always loved the arts and has taken on art classes of all types to sharpen her skills. She started selling chainmail items four years ago after being inspired by a fellow crafter at an anime convention four years ago. (Find her chainmail creations on her Etsy page.)

She got the idea to expand and open her own studio in December and jumped right into it after stocking up on the tools and equipment needed. Now, she hopes that her studio will become a family destination for unique art activities and gifts.

Color Me Clayful is open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Wednesdays and Fridays from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m. Call 603-769-4860 for more details.
