Fatal Hit and Run Driver Due Back in Court

Planning Board to meet at Town Hall; Transfer Station still accepting Christmas trees.

Fatal hit and run driver due back in court: Travis Hobbs, 20, of Mont Vernon, who is charged with killing retired Amherst Fire Chief John Bachman after police say he struck him with his car on Dec. 23, is due back in the 9th Circuit Court in Milford court for a probable cause hearing on Thursday morning.

Need to get rid of your Christmas tree:
The town's Transfer Station will continue to accept Christmas trees in the brush pile free of charge for residents who need a place to dispose of their trees.

Planning Board to meet: The Amherst Planning Board will meet on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. and hold work sessions at the Town Hall.

Winter Carnival set:
The Amherst Board of Selectmen recently voted to hold the town's Winter Carnival on Sunday, Feb. 9 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Middle Road.
