5 Things You Need to Know Today:

 

1. Thank you! It is Administrative Professionals Week, so make sure to thank somebody who makes your workplace a great place to be. Since 1952, the International Association of Administrative Professionals has honored office workers by sponsoring Administrative Professionals Week. Today, it is one of the largest workplace observances outside of employee birthdays and major holidays.

2. Don't rise to this challenge. Doctors are urging people not to take part in the "Cinnamon Challenge," which asks people to swallow a spoonful of cinnamon without water. Unfortunately, the report shows that the spice is caustic and can cause choking, throat irritation, breathing trouble and even collapsed lungs.

3. Patch Fact: Campylobacter are a kind of bacteria that can cause a form of food poisoning. The illness, called campylobacteriosis, is usually caused by the bacterium Campylobacter jejuni.

4. Dollars for those scholars. USNH Interim Chancellor Todd Leach and Board of Trustees Chairman Richard Galway are seeking a $55 million increase in state aid over the next two years. Leach said a lack of funds would affect student scholarships.
