Russ Hodgkins says he will focus on maintaining the rural quality of the town while balancing growth and budget levels.

AMHERST, NH — I’m running for Selectman to serve all the citizens of Amherst.
In the past few years, we’ve seen many challenges. For most of us, the greatest challenges we face are the financial pressures stemming from high inflation.

The Town of Amherst is no different. From my service on the town Ways and Means Committee, I have seen first-hand the increased costs the town must pay to provide quality services to you, the taxpayer. The current members of the Board of Selectmen have done an excellent job managing the town finances, ensuring the town continues to provide first-class services to you while also keeping tax increases to reasonable levels.
With the retirement of two long-serving selectmen this year, the need exists for new people to step forward to fill the void and keep Amherst moving forward.

I am humbly asking for your vote to fill one of the open seats.
If elected, I will:
- Strive to maintain the rural quality of Amherst.
- Balance growth in Amherst between the extremes of the no-growth NIMBY’s (not in my back yard) and the unlimited growth advocates who would turn Amherst into an urban metropolis.
- Limit the growth of the Amherst Town budget to levels commensurate with the growth of the town and the rate of inflation.
Let’s keep Amherst a great place to live!
