Jake's Ice Cream Is Gone, Now What?

Amherst lost a sweet destination with the departure of Jake’s Old Fashioned Ice Cream & Bakeshop earlier this month.

Jake's close its Amherst store and shifted their operation to Nashua after a boom in their wholesale business. They had been in the Carriage Depot Plaza for eight years, but their products can still be found in many local restaurants and stores.

Now what? The plaza has a big ol' vacancy just waiting to be filled with a new and exciting business. It already has a coffee & tea café, interior design store, salon and a recently opened pottery studio.

What would you like to see here? The space is located right off of Route 101A and could be a perfect fit for many types of businesses. Maybe a unique restaurant could fill the void, or maybe even another sweet destination?
