LETTER: Exciting Things In The Amherst School District
The Amherst School Board has their update on what is happening in Amherst schools.

Dear Pre-K through Grade 8 Parents,
We hope that the start of the new school year has proven to be a positive experience for you and your children, and that all are settling into a new routine with ease. There are many exciting things happening in the Amherst School District and we look forward to sharing much of them with you through our monthly communications.
During this school year, Superintendent Warburton has set a goal of visiting 20 households in the towns of Amherst and Mont Vernon to discuss topics of interest in education. We are seeking volunteers to invite their neighbors and friends into their homes for an evening chat with Peter and some members of the school board. These events are intended to last one hour and are a time for you to share ideas, ask questions, and give feedback about the education we are providing our children. We’re all in this together and we want to hear from you. If you're interested, please send an email to Amherst School Board chairperson, Peg Bennett at pbennett@sprise.com.
Additionally, there will be an informational evening in the auditorium at Souhegan High School on Oct 3 form 6:30 – 8:00pm regarding our new math curriculum, "Math In Focus". We encourage you to attend and become familiar with Math in Focus, as it is vastly different from how our children were taught in the past. This evening will hopefully shed more light on how this program will better prepare our students to be globally competitive in math. Students will need the active support of their parents, as well as their teachers and the Math in Focus representative, Andy Clark, will speak to how parents can provide this support.
As members of the Amherst School Board, we will continue to dedicate ourselves to improving an already successful school system, and we look forward to your participation in building a culture of excellence in our elementary and middle schools.
Sincerely,
Amherst School Board Members
Peg Bennett
