LETTER: Thank You To Amherst Emergency Services
Bill Campbell from the NH 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb thanks Amherst Fire and EMS.

On September 9th of this year the Fire Instructors and Officers Association of New Hampshire (FIOANH) held the second annual NH 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb in Manchester, NH to honor the memory and sacrifices of the 343 New York City firefighters who lost their lives on September 11, 2001. In addition to honoring the memory of these 343 heroes and remembering the thousands of heroic acts performed by rescue personnel and civilians alike, the goal of this event is to raise money to benefit the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation (NFFF) and support their work in helping the families and survivors of fallen firefighters across the nation rebuild their lives.
For the second year in a row members of Amherst EMS have provided stand-by emergency medical services to the almost 300 climbers during each year’s event. Countless climbers were evaluated as they made the arduous climb up the Brady Sullivan Building five and a half times equaling 110 stories to represent the 110 stories in the World Trade Center buildings. Each evaluation yielded the same excellent quality of service citizens of Amherst have come to expect from their hometown emergency medical providers

And for the second year in a row, members of the Amherst Fire Department showed their support and made the 110 story climb. This year nine of your AFD’s bravest took the day to participate as climbers in the memorial stair climb paying the $25.00 per person registration fee and having the honor of being the first team to enter the building and begin the 2012 stair climb. Dressed in full firefighting turn-out gear, scba and carrying hand tools, these nine men made the 110 story climb and once again exemplified the pride and professionalism citizens of Amherst have come to expect from their fire department. Additionally, for the second year in a row the Amherst Firefighters Relief Association made a monetary donation to the NH 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb in support of the NFFF
On behalf of the Board of Directors of the Fire Instructors and Officers Association of New Hampshire, I wanted to take this opportunity to say thank you to the members of Amherst EMS and Director Brian Gleason for their continued support. Also I wish to thank the AFD Relief Association for their support and the members of the AFD who took the time to participate in the stair climb. Their commitment to and support of the NH 9/11 Memorial stair Climb helped make this event a huge success raising approximately $40,000.00 over the last two years with 100% of the money raised going directly to the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation. We couldn’t have reached this level of success without their support.
