Make The Holidays Special Through Meals On Wheels

The Hillsborough County organization is seeking donations of meals or gifts this holiday season.

St. Joseph Community Services, Inc., the provider of Meals on Wheels and Community Dining throughout Hillsborough County is looking for holiday gifts for its elderly and disabled homebound clients.

Members of the community who wish to contribute can do so in two ways:

- Donors can provide the gift of meals; one week of hot meals is $40; two weeks of hot meals is $80; and one month of meals is $173.

- Donors can also contribute by purchasing a gift. Our goal is to be able to present a gift to each and every one of our clients in time for the holidays.

Some suggested holiday gift ideas include:

  • Personal size hand sanitizer
  • unscented hand lotion
  • body lotion
  • shampoo
  • shower gel
  • soaps
  • facial tissues
  • washcloths
  • socks, crackers
  • non-perishable cheeses
  • cookies
  • chocolates
  • candies
  • tea
  • coffee
  • cocoa
  • coffee mug
  • puzzle books
  • blank note cards
  • stamps
  • playing cards.  

You may wish to buy anything listed above or you may substitute other appropriate gifts.  

St. Joseph Community Services fosters independence and life enrichment for the elderly and other qualified adults through nutrition, social engagement and community services. They provide a hot, nutritious meal and a safety check to older and disabled adults and have provided 11 million meals to older and disabled adults throughout Hillsborough County since it was formed in 1977.

Please help make their clients’ holidays special this year. St. Joseph Community Services provides Meals on Wheels and Community Dining in Hillsborough County through twenty-four sites.
