Meet Future Leaders From Amherst

Patch and T-Mobile have partnered to highlight young people's academic achievements as they prepare for the future.

AMHERST, NH — The future of Amherst is looking bright, thanks to the incredible young people working to strengthen our community. In partnership with T-Mobile, Patch is proud to spotlight future leaders working hard at college to prepare for the future.

Michael Dodge, a member of the class of 2025 majoring in Electrical and Computer Engineering at Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI), recently completed a senior thesis that is required of all graduating seniors as part of the university's distinctive project-based educational experience. Michael's Major Qualifying Project (MQP), a research-driven, professional-level project that challenges students to solve the kinds of problems they would typically encounter in their professional discipline, was titled "Autonomous Surface Vehicle for Shallow Water Bathymetry." Dodge was bestowed a bachelor's degree at WPI's 156th Commencement on May 16.

Bailey Burke of Amherst received a bachelor of arts degree Summa Cum Laude from College of the Holy Cross. Burke is among 733 bachelor of arts degree recipients Holy Cross celebrated at its 179th Commencement held in person on Friday, May 23 at the DCU Center in Worcester.

Trinity Chrystelle Zimmerman of Amherst received a bachelor of science degree in global supply chain management, biology minor, law studies minor from Clarkson University on May 10.

Kathryn Helgerson of Amherst was named to the Dean's Honor List at Cedarville University for Spring 2025. This recognition requires the student to obtain a 3.75 GPA or higher for the semester and carry a minimum of 12 credit hours.

Rachel Mazur, a Lasell University student from Amherst, was named to the Dean's List for their academic performance in the Spring 2025 semester. To be named to the Dean's List, Lasell students must complete at least 12 credits as a full-time student and achieve a semester GPA of 3.5 or higher.

Alexander Gassin,of Amherst graduated with a Bachelor Of Science In Aerospace Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin in spring 2025. Gassin was one of nearly 9,500 students who received an undergraduate, master's or doctoral degree.

It is with great pleasure that Southern New Hampshire University congratulates the following students on being named to the Spring 2025 President's List. The spring terms run from January to May. Full-time undergraduate students who have earned a minimum grade-point average of 3.700 and above for the reporting term are named to the President's List. Full-time status is achieved by earning 12 credits over each 16-week term or paired 8-week terms grouped in fall, winter/spring, and summer.

The following Amherst SNHU students were named to the Spring 2025 Dean's List. The spring terms run from January to May. Full-time undergraduate students who have earned a minimum grade-point average of 3.500 to 3.699 for the reporting term are named to the Dean's List. Full-time status is achieved by earning 12 credits over each 16-week term or paired 8-week terms grouped in fall, winter/spring, and summer.

Sarah Ellis, a Junior Elementary Education major from Amherst, was among over 590 Bob Jones University students named to the Spring 2025 President's List. The President's List recognizes students who earn a 3.75 or higher grade point average for the semester.

The following students are named to Emerson College's Dean's List for the Fall 2024 semester. To make the Dean's List, students must have a grade point average of 3.7 or higher for that semester. Timothy Eccleston of Amherst is majoring in Media Arts Production and is a member of the Class of 2025; Alex Levesque of Amherst is majoring in Media Arts Production and is a member of the Class of 2026; and Shannon Hargreaves of Amherst is majoring in Media Arts Production and is a member of the Class of 2026.

More than 1,700 students were named to the College of the Holy Cross' Dean's List for outstanding academic achievement during the Fall semester of the 2024-25 academic year. The following local students made the list:

  • Bailey Burke of Amherst, Class of 2025
  • Ariana Goulet of Amherst, Class of 2028

To qualify for the Dean's List, students must pass four or more letter-graded courses with no failing grades during the semester and earn a GPA of 3.5 or higher.
