Meet The New Meat House In Amherst

Those looking for a different food shopping experience, and also happen to love meat, have a new must-visit destination in Amherst.

The new Meat House location in Meadow Brook Crossing officially opened its doors on Sept. 1.

With a focus on local products, this national chain aims to be “a modern revival of a neighborhood butcher and grocer.” The Meat House offers a wide selection of meat products, fine cheeses, beer, wine, produce, breads, prepared side dishes, desserts and other gourmet grocery items.

Franchise owner Allan Bald said that this location is unique in that it also offers seafood products and is larger in size than previous stores. He said these changes reflect customer feedback of what they want in their shopping experience.

“There is an evolution here,” said Bald. “The customers are the ones that have directed us, and because we listened to our customers, this is where we are.”

They currently stock some very interesting meat products including wild boar and alligator. Bald said that the store’s current selection is only the beginning, and they will stock more items based on customer feedback.

He even carries around a notepad where he jots down suggestions from Meat House customers. Customer satisfaction is a big deal at this chain of stores,  where employees even help carry customers’ bags to their cars for them.

The store has a strong focus on offering local products and plans to become very involved in the surrounding community.

Bald said that their opening over the Labor Day Weekend was stronger than expected and the local response has been fantastic. The store will host a grand opening event with local vendors offering samples and more on Saturday, Sept. 15.

This successful launch has the franchise owner excited about opening the next store, with improvements based on customer feedback. The Amherst store is the 32nd location to open nationally, with additional locations planned in New Hampshire.
