The Animal Hospital of Nashua at Amherst is now open at the former location of The Rugged Bear on Ponemah Road
A new hospital has opened in Amherst that will make sure you are taken care of (as long as you are a bit fuzzier than usual).
The Animal Hospital of Nashua at Amherst officially opened its doors in early February as a primary and secondary care facility for pets. The new facility is the first sister location for the Nashua-based animal hospital, which now has three locations total in New England.

They have taken over what used to house the Rugged Bear clothing store, but the patients it accepts are a bit smaller than a bear. The new animal hospital location currently takes in cats, dogs and a variety of “pocket pets,” such as sugar gliders.
Their mission is to “keep healthy pets healthy, and we make sick pets better,” while providing resources during all hours. Wellness services such as annual exams, vaccines, blood work, physicals and more are available for pets.

Dr. Katie Roberts is the hospital's associate veterinarian, and joins fellow full time veterinarian Amy Snedaker in producing health pets and happy owners.
Roberts is excited to operate out of this new location, the interior of which having a distinct rural character. The hospital is designed to be a place of comfort for pets and owners.
“If pet is sick, we want to offer them a place that is comfortable,” she said.
The Nashua Animal Hospital focuses on continuity of care. For example, a client from another one of its locations can come to Amherst and have access to all of the necessary records. The new hospital will soon be set up for surgery to offer even more medical services to pets.
Roberts is looking forward to meeting the people in the community, and their animal friends. She said if the flag is out, they are open and ready to help your pet. Walk-ins are always welcome, or you can call and schedule an appointment at 603-554-8100.
The office is open Monday-Thursday from 12-9 p.m., Friday-Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. In case of emergency, please contact the Animal Medical Center of New England at 603-821-7222 for 24/7 service.
