NH Gay Men's Chorus Has That Swing!

Get ready for good times and some boogie-woogie rhythm this weekend.

1. Fabulous! Dig out your zoot suits and bobby socks and come see the talented New Hampshire Gay Men's Chorus perform its spectacular 15th anniversary Crystal Jubilee concert, We Got That Swing! For the first time in its history the chorus presents the great boogie-woogie rhythm and sounds of all-American Swing music. The program also features several traditional, lively patriotic tunes from the Swing era. Help NHGMC celebrate 15 years of bringing beautiful music to the people of New Hampshire. It don’t mean a thing if it ain’t got that Swing! Don’t miss We Got That Swing! Join them on Saturday, May 4 at 7:30 p.m. at Nashua Community College. Tickets at the door are $20 for adults and $18 for children and seniors. 

2. Take it to the limit! Don't miss Hotel California: Eagles Tribute Band Benefit Concert at Stockbridge Theatre in Derry on Friday, May. 3 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. The 5th Annual Concert & Silent Concert will feature Hotel California The Original Eagles Tribute Band. Hotel California prides itself in creating the ultimate Eagles experience for their audiences. Reviewers have noted, "Close your eyes and you'd swear it was the Eagles, note for note." Silent Auction opens at 6 p.m., Concert begins at 7 p.m. All proceeds will benefit the Center for Life Management (CLM) Foundation. CLM is a non-profit community mental health agency based in Derry, NH.

3. Kitties! Treasures Antiques, Collectables & MORE! in Amherst will host their annual Kitty Angels Fundraiser/Flea Market and Adoption Days this weekend. Over 130 vendors are expected this year. Also included is a fun petting zoo, 2 live bands, The New England Brethren of Pirates and fundraising raffles with multiple and various prizes. Kitty Angels, Inc., is a non-profit, charitable corporation where all donations are fully tax-deductible and every penny of every donation is used in the caring of cats. They are a no-kill cat shelter made up of all unpaid volunteers, and are dedicated to rescuing stray and abandoned cats and furnishing them with treatment for injuries or other health issues. With all that’s done, the money runs out but the cats don’t. This is one event you won’t want to miss. Maybe, you can adopt a new forever-friend as well.

4. Cuddle! Bring the kids to the World's Softest Teddy Bear Challenge at the Pheasant Lane Mall on Saturday, May. 4 from noon to 6 p.m. Toymaker Toy Island is introducing Participants will be blind folded and put to the test. They will be given two stuffed animals, one from The Original World’s Softest Brand and one from a top brand competitor, to hold, hug, and squish before casting their vote, ultimately deciding which is truly the world’s softest. Visitors will be eligible to win prizes onsite and also enter the “World’s Softest Teddy Bear Challenge Sweepstakes” for a chance to win a number of exciting prizes at the end of the tour. Mall patrons will also have the opportunity to take fun photos with The Original World’s Softest Brand family of teddy bears.

5. Rollin'! Watch the NH Roller Derby May Double Header at the JFK Coliseum in Manchester on Saturday, May. 4 from 4-9 p.m. The Granite Skate Troopers take on the Seabrook Meltdowns. Then, at 7:00 pm the Queen City Cherry Bombs take on their neighbor to the east, the Calamity Janes of Maine Roller Derby. Beer will be available for sale to fans 21+ with proper ID.
