Rare Photo Of Titanic-Sinking Iceberg Up For Auction In Amherst

RR Auction in Amherst expects this to sell for over $10,000 in their Titanic Auction.

A one-of-a-kind photograph of the iceberg believed to have sunk the Titanic is up for auction in Amherst.

RR Auction will be auctioning off this and other Titanic memorabilia and collectables in their live Titanic auction next month.

"The fact that this iceberg is known to have been photographed just two days before Titanic’s sinking at a position arguably 2-3 days iceberg travel time to Titanic’s foundering position, and that it substantially matches the images drawn by Titanic’s lookout and crewman, this photograph may well picture the iceberg everyone has been talking about for the past 100 years." 

Other items include authenticated deck chairs from the doomed vessel and the rescue-ship, Carpathia, a transfer request letter from the ship's doctor and other items recovered from the ship.

The RMS Titanic sank in the North Atlantic Ocean in 1912 after the iceberg collision during her maiden voyage from Southampton, UK to New York City, US.

The live bidding will take place on Sunday, December 16, 2012 at the Crowne-Plaza Hotel in Nashua, NH. Items may be viewed at the hotel on Saturday, December 15. Bidders are invited to bid online beginning on December 8th.
