ROAD UPDATE: Digging on Cross Street Begins Monday

Digging will start at the east most end of Cross Street heading west.

Here is the latest road update from Amherst DPW director Bruce Berry:

Most of the behind the scene work is completed and Continental is ready to start digging Monday morning April 1st.

Digging will start at the east most end of Cross Street heading west. This will consume the entire road, and daily closures will be necessary. Excavations will not be left open at the end of the workday but equipment will be parked in the road for the construction duration. While we will try not to block driveways at night it is possible you occasionally may need to park in a location other than your driveway.

At the same time the pipe crew is working, a small cleanup machine may be excavating shoulder grass on Middle Street. Mailboxes may be swapped out for temporary boxes sometime next week (not sure yet). The cleanup machine may also be finishing up the remaining work on Courthouse.

Busy time, we have one opportunity to get this right. I appreciate your patience and understanding, do not hesitate to reach out to me with any concerns. Have a great weekend.
