5K Run for Gus Returns This Year

Help raise money for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy on Saturday, Sept. 29.

Get those running shoes on and join your neighbors in helping young boys everywhere during the 2nd annual Run For Gus 5K race/walk.

Runners and walkers will meet at Souhegan High School on Saturday Sept. 29 at 10 a.m. Race day registration begins at 9 AM.

In addition to race day registration, participants can register online or at the Friday, Sept. 28 Souhegan High School football game which begins at 7 pm.

This game will also feature additional opportunities to sponsor research to find a cure for  Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD). Proceeds from this fundraising event will go towards The Hope For Gus Foundation and their efforts to find a cure for their son Gus Dreher.

DMD is a rare, fatal genetic disorder that weakens the muscles in the body and affects 1 in 3,600 boys a year.

Souhegan teacher Steve Dreher started Hope For Gus after his son was diagnosed at four-years-old. The average life expectancy for those diagnosed with DMD is 25 years old, and Gus will likely be in a wheel-chair as early as 10 years old.
