Sobriety Checkpoints Coming to Amherst this Weekend
State and Amherst Police are teaming up to get drunk drivers off our roads.

New Hampshire State Police and the Amhest Police Department will be on the lookout this weekend.
Troop B in Bedford has announced that it will join Amherst officers in setting up a sobriety checkpoint in the Amherst area this weekend.
The checkpoint is authorized by the Hillsborough County Superior Court, and will be conducted under guidelines promulgated by the New Hampshire Attorney General’s Office.

According to a press release, both departments consider the identification and apprehension of impaired drivers and enforcement of the Driving While Intoxicated statutes to be a top priority. The sobriety checkpoints are one of the best methods of deterring impaired drivers.
