Spring into the Season with Amherst Recreation

The snow is almost gone and it is time to have some fun.

CLASSES AND ACTIVITIES

Sewing Machine Basics- This 90 minute class is taking place this Thursday (3/28) from 2:30-4:00. Students will bring in a yard of fabric and a few sewing tools and will leave with a finished pillowcase- sure not to be left behind at the next sleepover!

Art @AMS - Three art classes are being offered at AMS over the next three months: Silk ScreeningStreet Art and Art as a Career: Graphic Designer and Illustrator. Find more information on our website.

Yoga for Middle Schoolers- Leslie Formby is great with leading kids in stretching and strengthening through yoga. The next session will begin April 10th.

SPORTS

Softball - We are still looking for softball players for this spring. Instructional through Juniors will begin in the next few weeks. Soft Toss, an introductory program for 5 and 6 year olds, will begin the week of May 6th.

Track and Field - Registration is now open. Practices begin April 15th on the Souhegan HS track.

Volleyball for Middle Schoolers - The girls' program will begin March 26th and the boys' on April 9. Both are scheduled for Tuesdays and Thursdays, and are being run by experienced coaches.

Instructional Soccer- this team sport is an introduction to soccer for 5 and 6 year olds. Avoid a late fee by registering before April 12th.

Soft Toss- This is an introduction to softball for girls ages 5 and 6. Girls will learn the fundamentals of throwing and catching, fielding, batting and game basics. Starts May 6th.

Tot Soccer- 3 and 4 year olds will learn the building blocks of soccer while getting some fresh spring air and making new friends. Both morning and afternoon programs are offered, starting May 8 and 9.
