Monday Essentials: Strategic Planning Sessions Start With Police Up First

A look ahead a what's happening in town this week.

A look at some of the things you should know as you start  the week. 

Weather outlook. This week's forecast looks to be a mix of sun and clouds with warm days climbing into the low 90s by Wednesday before dipping back into the low 70s and high 60s for the weekend. Scattered rain and thundershowers are in the National Weather Service's prediction for the week. And make sure to have a light sweater, sweatshirt or jacket if you're going to be out at night. Nighttime temps will dip into the 60s, 50s and 40s.

Strategic planning. The Amherst Board of Selectmen on Monday night will start the review process with eight department heads presenting plans for strategic plans for their departments. Each department head is scheduled for their own week, starting with Polic Chief Mark Reams at 6:30 p.m. in the Media Room at Souhegan High School

Delayed opening. All schools in the Amherst School District will have a delayed opening on Tuesday, Sept. 10. Mark it on your calendars and relish a little extra sleep in the morning.

Week in sports. Souhegan High School's athletic competition schedule kicks off this week with girls junior varsity and varsity soccer playing games at Hudon's Alvirne High School at 4 and 5:30 p.m., respectively, and the junior varsity football team playing at home against Monadnock at 5 p.m. Get the rest of the week's athletic schedule on the Souhegan High School website.
