Who Got The Most Write-In Votes In Amherst?

A look at some of the interesting choices Amherst voters made on their ballots this year.

Ron Paul received the most write-in votes in the general election this year, after failing to get the Republican nomination earlier this year.

The libertarian-leaning Republican nabbed fourteen votes for president from Amherst voters. Green Party candidate Jill Stein came in second with four votes. Mitt Romney received a write-in vote, which may have just been one voter who was not a fan of Republican vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan.

Kevin Smith, who was beat out by Ovide Lamontagne in the Republican primary, received four write-in votes in Amherst. Apparently one voter only wanted to vote for a last name as they simply wrote in “Lamontagne” on their ballot.

Democrat Dick Swett received two votes for Congress, which beat out Charlie Bass’ sole write-in vote alongside his many other votes in Amherst.

One voter really wanted Amherst selectman Tom Grella as our county’s executive councilor.

Some interesting choices for state representative included Tom Griffith of WMUR fame and “O’Mara,” which probably refers to Amherst town administrator Jim O’Mara.
