Body Discovered In Piscataquog River Identified As A Manchester Man
NH State Police Major Crime Unit and Marine Patrol are investigating the cause of death of Shawn Barton, 40 of Manchester

MANCHESTER, NH - Manchester Fire, EMS, and police were dispatched to the Electric Street boat ramp for a report that some people in a boat discovered a body in the Piscataquog River Friday.
Firefighters launched two boats around 7:30 p.m. and were directed to an area of the river about 350 yards from the boat ramp. Firefighters worked in an area that appeared to be a cove and a short distance from a sandy beach area where many people swim at.
The body was placed in one of the boats and brought to the boat ramp where police began their investigation. New Hampshire State Police and New Hampshire Marine Patrol were requested to the scene.

The office of the New Hampshire Chief Medical Examiner was summoned to the scene, and the body was removed from the scene by a local funeral home.
Marine Patrol along with Troopers from Troop B and the Major Crime Unit responded to investigate. The victim was identified as Shawn Barton, age 40, with an unknown address at this time. The investigation is active and ongoing to determine the cause of death.
