BEDFORD, NH — A national restaurant company that operates restaurants in Bedford and Seabrook announced the closing of 41 “underperforming” restaurants nationwide to their nationwide assortment of restaurants.

Bloomin' Brands operates Carrabba’s Italian Grill, Outback Steakhouse, Bonefish Grill, and Fleming’s. Outback Steakhouse was the chain hit by the most closings, including one in Seabrook.

According to Elizabeth Daly, the director of Media and Community Relations, this group of closings does not impact Carrabba’s in Bedford on Upjohn Street and will remain open.

The Outback 712 Lafayette Road closed without notice Friday and was one of the 41 restaurants nationwide that closed their doors permanently. The Seabrook location was the last Outback in New Hampshire. The company did not release a complete list of the closed restaurants but verified the status of the Seabrook location.

Bloomin' Brands said, "This decision considered a variety of factors, including sales and traffic-trade areas and the investment that would have to be made to improve the restaurants.”

The spokesperson said, “Closing a restaurant is never easy. This was a business decision that did not reflect the management or staff. Some employees will have the opportunity to transfer. Those who do not will receive a severance package. We appreciate the community’s support over the past 8 years and hope to see you at our Peabody, MA restaurant.”

The Outback closing is one of several restaurant changes in the New Hampshire area. In January, TGI Fridays announced the closing of their location in Amherst and the sale of their Concord and Manchester locations.
