Nugent: Catherine Rombeau Brings Civility To The State House
Written by Bedford resident Ryan Nugent

Three years ago was the first time I had ever volunteered for anything related to politics when I held a campaign sign for Catherine Rombeau.
A week earlier, Catherine (running for state rep) had been holding her signs with her young children near the transfer station when a resident pulled over to berate and threaten her for no other reason than her political affiliation.
When a witness to this event relayed the story, I was committed to proving that Bedford (and our country) is better than the behavior displayed that day.

I was fed up with the divisiveness in our politics and how any civility in political discourse had been lost.
So the next week, there I stood with a sign next to her and other supporters on the side of the road hoping to demonstrate that the more people try to divide us, the more they actually unite us.

Since then, I have come to appreciate Catherine's humble and honorable service to our community by having served on multiple town commissions and committees and as a Bedford Town Councilor.
Once elected to the State House, Rombeau focused her efforts on legislation that benefits all of us, like HB 1291 to let families care for loved ones, or supporting HB 1683 to protect Bedford's award-winning public schools.
This is a terrific town comprised of kind and generous neighbors, and Catherine Rombeau exemplifies those traits.
For those who haven't yet met her, you will find that speaking with her is no different than conversing with a friend or neighbor, not a political pundit or idealogue.
I'm voting for Catherine Rombeau this year because I want civility back in our State House and politicians like her who truly want to hear others' point of view and support their communities, not nationalized political agendas.
