Update: Woman Who Fled Deputies, Jumping In The Merrimack River, Found Alive, Arrested

Elise Poirier jumped in the river two weeks ago, setting off an intense search in Manchester. She was captured on the West Side Friday.

MANCHESTER, NH — The woman law enforcement agencies have been searching for after fleeing sheriff deputies and jumping into the Merrimack River has been located and arrested.

The Office of Hillsborough County Sheriff’s said deputies were talking to Elise Poirier two weeks ago near the Foundry Restaurant by the Granite Street Bridge. Deputies determined she had warrants out of Rockingham County. When Deputies advised her of the warrants, she was accused of fleeing and jumping into the river.

Witnesses said they saw her floating down the middle of the river just south of the Granite Street Bridge when she disappeared.

Multiple agencies, including Hillsborough County Sheriffs, Manchester police, New Hampshire State Police, Bedford police, NH Fish and Game, and Marine Patrol, used several resources to search for two days.

The searches spanned from the Granite Street Bridge to Brown Avenue in the river and along the embankments.

A week ago, a booking photo of Poirier was distributed after several credible sightings to law enforcement.

On Friday morning, based on a tip she might be on the West Side of Manchester, she was located and taken into custody by Hillsborough County Sheriff Deputies, Manchester police, and Probation and Parole.

She is currently being held at the Hillsborough County House of Corrections and will be held on the previous warrants and face additional new charges.
