Fatal Incident Under Investigation After Man Found Deceased Near Tractor-Trailer in Bedford

Investigators are working in the loading dock area of Hannaford on Kilton Road. This is the 4th Bedford fatal in 4 months.

BEDFORD, NH — Bedford police are actively investigating a fatal motor vehicle incident that occurred early Wednesday morning, resulting in the death of an unhoused man.

At approximately 5:42 a.m., Bedford police responded to 7 Kilton Road, behind Hannaford, following a report of an individual who appeared to have been run over by a tractor-trailer. The victim, identified as a 62-year-old unhoused man, was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have located and identified the driver of the tractor-trailer, who is cooperating with the ongoing investigation.

According to a preliminary investigation, it appeared the man may have been sleeping underneath the tractor-trailer, which was parked at a loading dock, prior to the incident.

Bedford Police Chief Daniel Douidi stated there will be an increased police presence in the area as the investigation continues. The Bedford Police Department and New Hampshire State Police are jointly investigating the incident.

The New Hampshire Attorney General's Office is aware of the death, but at this time, they are not involved in the investigation, according to Michael Garrity.
