From a West Virginia Farm to Bedford's Top Dog

'Chow hound' will serve as poster pup on all Bedford dog licensing materials.

Submitted by Bedford Town Clerk Lori Radke:

Darcy Mixon, Bedford's 2014 Top Dog, was born on a farm in West Virginia. She was given to Bedford residents, Lorraine Bauman and Jim Mixon, by members of their family when she was a puppy. Now age 10, she has lived in Bedford since her adoption.

Part Spitz, Lab and Australian Shepherd, Darcy enjoys taking walks and hikes. She loves being pet, brushed, scratched and cuddled as well as spending time with her people, including human den mates Rachel and Alyssa Mixon. Always happy to see her people, she greets them with a wagging tail and occasionally a toothy smile.

Darcy is a 'chow hound' and enjoys food very much. Her favorites include home made dog treats, steak, carrots, Purina dog chow and almost any food scrap that falls on the floor. She is honored to wear the Top Dog crown for Bedford in 2014.

Note: Darcy will be representing Bedford by having her photo on all dog licensing materials. She will receive a free license with the 2014 number on the license.
