Man Fatally Shot In Manchester Parking Lot Near Bars And Restaurants

Police responded to an accident on Lowell Street and, a short time later, responded to a shooting in the same downtown area Saturday.

MANCHESTER, NH — Manchester Police, Fire, and AMR ambulance responded to Lowell Street for a report of a victim with gunshot wounds Saturday at about 2:02 a.m.

Firefighters and the AMR crew quickly transported the injured person from the scene to the Elliot Hospital. A short time after the person was transported, they succumbed to their injuries. Police taped off a large parking lot with several vehicles, and closed a portion of Lowell Street, blocking it off with cruisers and crime scene tape.

At approximately 1:12 a.m. Saturday, Manchester police officers were dispatched to the area of 61 Lowell Street for a reported motor vehicle accident. Detectives began processing the scene late Saturday morning, documenting what appears to be shell casings on the ground and damage to at least one vehicle from gunfire.

Police set up a device to create a 3D image of the scene by taking thousands of photos. The device was used in the parking lot as well as Lowell Street. Several people came to retrieve their vehicles and were turned away and told to come back in the afternoon after the scene was processed.

In a press release, NH Attorney General John Formella and Manchester Police Allen Aldenberg said, "The exact circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation. Investigators are continuing to investigate the individuals involved and the sequence of events from the accident leading up to the shooting, but there are no indications of any specific threat to the general public at this time.”

A be on the lookout was put out by several area law enforcement agencies for a Honda CRV that police were looking to identify the occupants and was possibly related to the shooting.

The man who died was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Concord, where an autopsy will be performed to cause the exact cause and manner of death. At this time, the deceased person has not been identified and no arrests have been announced.
