MANCHESTER, NH - A Manchester Department of Public Works worker was seriously injured in an accident on Platts Avenue Thursday morning.

Manchester Fire, AMR Ambulance, and police responded to Platts Avenue near Candia Road for a report of an accident. On arrival, firefighters found a DPW worker on the ground with injuries sustained in the accident.

Additional AMR resources were requested due to serious injuries to the worker's lower extremities, which occurred from being crushed between the back of a City of Manchester garbage truck and a utility pole.

Medics and firefighters provided medical treatment at the scene and requested a trauma alert for a man in his twenties with serious injuries.

He was transported by AMR to the Elliot Hospital Trauma Center and is expected to survive.

Manchester Police are investigating the accident; it does not appear that any other vehicles were involved.
