Manchester Young Professionals Hosts Adulting 101: House Hacking

Industry professionals and leaders joined Manchester Young Professional members to discuss House Hacking.

Earlier this month, the Manchester Young Professionals were joined by professionals and leaders in the industry to discuss the topic of house hacking. This is an investment strategy used by some to curb the costs of housing by purchasing a multi-family property. By renting out part of their property, buyers are able to live in their home with minimal costs or even at times making a profit.

Holly Blanchard, co-chair of Manchester Young Professionals, hosted the discussion that detailed financing, buying and maintaining a property, as well as the responsibilities of a landlord. Experts included Kaitlyn Gallagher of Cambridge Trust, Nick Gray of Gray Property Group, and Joseph Getts, a multi-family owner & house hacker.

"This is a great thing that anyone should do. Because even if you do not want to become a full time real estate professional, like myself, being able to eliminate your housing costs empowers you to do whatever it is you want to do with your life." said Nick Gray, the Principal Investor/Broker at Gray Property Group. Gray started out by purchasing a multifamily home in Exeter that he renovated and began his house hacking journey with. He has since grown his company and they now have over 3 million dollars in multi-family assets.

The full recording of the event is available on the Greater Manchester Chamber's YouTube channel, which can be accessed by clicking here.
