- A shoutout to alpine skier Aidan Wolfinger of Bedford! Wolfinger, a junior at Saint Joseph's College, is on the men's alpine ski team that earned its fifth win of the season at Pats Peak on Saturday. Wolfinger posted a time of 50.12 on the first run. What's next? "Saint Joseph's will host a giant slalom race at Pleasant Mountain next Saturday at 10 a.m." (Saint Joseph's College of Maine)
- Granted! Two patents were recently granted to Bedford inventors: Deka Products Limited Partnership of Manchester was assigned a patent developed by Dean Kamen of Bedford, and Larry B. Gray and Russell H. Beavis of Merrimack "for 'Patch-sized fluid delivery systems and methods.'" BAE Systems Information and Electronic Systems, Inc. of Nashua was assigned a patent for "fuze setting systems and techniques” by inventors Francis M. Feda of Sudbury, Massachusetts; John R. Franzini of Hollis, New Hampshire; and Gregory S. Notaro of Bedford. (Granite Geek)
- Have you signed up for the Moonlight Snowshoe/Hike at Earl G. Legacy Park? Join Jo Hendry and Kathleen Ports on Friday, Feb. 3 (alternate day Feb. 4) for a moonlight walk on a wooded trail and also earn how animals adapt to winter. The snowshoe/walk will follow a winding trail that's narrow in places, winding around rocks and tree roots. (If there is snow, bring snowshoes, if there's no snow, wear appropriate footwear to walk).
