New Boston Police Take Felon Avery Blodgett Into Custody At Gunpoint
An exhaustive overnight search for a man police say was involved in a pursuit, crash and stole a vehicle. He faces multiple new charges.
NEW BOSTON, NH — New Boston Police and multiple law enforcement agencies searched for Avery Blodgett, 42, overnight after a pursuit spanned from Merrimack to Nashua Friday.
Blodgett allegedly dumped the Chevrolet Colorado pick-up, which was involved in the first pursuit and then police say he stole a tan Toyota Tacoma pick-up, which was found abandoned in New Boston.
Multiple officers used thermal drones and K-9s to search several wooded areas where residents live. Officers searching knew they were looking for Avery Blodgett, who has a criminal history involving bank robberies and thefts.

Saturday at about 10:15 a.m., a person spotted a person believed to be Blodgett in the area of 216 River Road attempting to break into an automobile. New Boston Police Officer River Marmorstein and Lt. Stephen Case responded to the area along with the assistance of the Goffstown Police Department. After an initial foot pursuit, he was ultimately taken into custody without incident.
The man was positively identified as Blodgett, who had been the subject of the search that started with a crash near Hooper Hill Road in New Boston.

Blodgett was transported to the New Boston Police Station, where members of the New Boston Fire Department evaluated him, and further medical treatment was not required.
According to superior court records, Blodgett was convicted on robbery, burglary, and criminal restraint charges out of Dunbarton in the late 1990s.
In 2007, Avery Blodgett and his brother Travis Blodgett pleaded guilty to robbing several banks in New Hampshire and Maine. Avery Blodgett admitted to conspiring to rob eight banks, including Meredith Village Savings Bank in Moultonborough and Profile Bank in Alton.
Blodgett is facing several charges and will be held on preventative detention until an arraignment at a future date.
