U.S. News & World Report researchers based the 2025 ranking of the nation's best public elementary schools on publicly available data.

NEW HAMPSHIRE — Mason Elementary School in Mason is the best public elementary school in New Hampshire, according to a new ranking from U.S. News & World Report.
U.S. News researchers based the 2025 ranking of the nation’s best public elementary schools on publicly available data from the U.S. Department of Education. Elementary schools are considered K-6 in the analysis.

- Riddle Brook School in Bedford
- Rye Elementary School
- Lafayette Regional School in Franconia
- Bernice A. Ray School in Hanover
- New Franklin School in Portsmouth
- Peter Woodbury School in Bedford
- Grantham Village School
- Memorial School in Bedford
- Hollis Primary School
The methodology for the rankings focused on state assessments of students who were proficient or above proficient in math and reading/language arts, while also accounting for students’ background and their achievements in core subjects. Student-teacher ratios were applied to break ties.
LaMont Jones, managing editor for Education at U.S. News, said in a news release that the rankings are intended as an evaluation tool to inform parents on how well schools are doing at providing high-quality education and preparing students for a successful future.

Patch communities with schools in the Top 30 include the Windham Center School, ranked 11th, the Little Harbour School and Mary C. Dondero Elementary School in Portsmouth, ranked 14th and 22nd, the Adeline C. Marston in Hampton listed 24th, and Clark-Wilkins School in Amherst, ranked 30th.
