📰 News we're reading

• Town Of Bedford: Greenfield Parkway Bridge Is Now Open (patch.com) — Drivers in Bedford now have another route available, as the town has announced that the Greenfield Parkway bridge is officially open to traffic. This new access point should ease local congestion and provide residents and commuters with more flexibility moving around Bedford’s commercial and residential areas.

• SNHU's Toolin earns national scholar award (unionleader.com) — A Bedford sophomore at Southern New Hampshire University, Jack Toolin, has been honored as the Elite Scholar-Athlete for the 2025 NCAA Division II men’s soccer championship, recognizing his perfect 4.0 GPA and on-field success. The accounting major received the award before SNHU’s national semifinal, becoming just the third Penmen athlete ever to earn this prestigious national academic honor.

• Merrimack resident proposes mushrooms as PFAS solution (unionleader.com) — Bedford is among the communities downstream of Merrimack’s former Saint-Gobain plant where PFAS contamination has spread, and a young Merrimack organizer is testing mushrooms as a potential cleanup tool. Her large-scale mycoremediation experiment, still seeking a final site and funding, could offer a more natural alternative to costly chemical treatment if it proves effective.
