Pedestrian Struck On In Manchester Suffers Life-Threatening Injuries

A 60-year-old man was struck on Second Street by a pickup truck Sunday morning. Police closed down the area as they investigated the crash.

MANCHESTER, NH — Manchester Fire, AMR, and police were dispatched to Second Street just north of Harvell Street on Sunday for a report a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle.

Upon arrival, at about 6:30 a.m., they found a 60-year-old man with serious, life-threatening injuries on the ground who appeared to have been struck by a pick-up truck. The man was treated at the scene and rushed to the hospital in an AMR ambulance, with firefighters assisting the AMR personnel. Sources indicate the man will possibly be transferred to a Boston hospital.

Clothes and personal belongings were scattered on the west side of the street in the southbound lane of travel.

A white Chevrolet Silverado driven by a 53-year-old man from Manchester had damage to the front passenger side and was parked on the northbound side of the road in front of the Shell station. Police say the driver of the pickup truck was uninjured in the crash.

Second Street was closed between Harvell Street and Schiller Street, so Manchester police could investigate the scene.

Police could be seen taking measurements and using a Faro scanner to create a detailed image of the crash scene.

At about 10 a.m., a tow truck arrived and removed the pickup truck from the scene.

The factors of this crash are under investigation by the Manchester Police Department Traffic Unit.
