Goffstown Woman Killed Outside Home On Joffre Street

Update: Investigators from NHSP Major Crime, Fire Marshal's Office at the processing the scene. A local school was placed in lockdown.

GOFFSTOWN, NH — Goffstown fire, police, and EMS responded to a single-family house on Joffrey Street on Tuesday for a report of a fire and a person injured in an assault.

Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire, and a woman was located and pronounced dead at the scene.

Police began searching the area for a man who was identified in a “Bolo” (be-on-the-lookout) wanted in connection to a “homicide”. The Bolo indicated it was unknown if the man left the area on foot or in a vehicle.

Due to the close proximity to the crime scene, the Bartlett School on Mast Road was placed in secure mode to protect the students and staff.

A short time later the Bolo was canceled and the broadcast indicated the person had been located. The school returned to normal operations, and additional police units in the school area were cleared.

The house was surrounded by crime scene tape and officers were stationed outside to keep the scene secure. As word spread about the incident, several cars attempted to drive up the dead-end street and were turned away by police.

A fire hose could be seen on the front lawn leading to the front steps, but the fire department had cleared. Gloves and other medical items could be seen in the area around a tarp in the carport area.

GPD Chief Eric Sereno said the investigation was being handled by the NH Attorney General's Office and NH State Police Major Crime. The Attorney General’s Office verified that “an adult woman” was deceased and it was considered a suspicious death investigation.

Just before 6 p.m., investigators from the Major Crime Unit, NH Fire Marshal’s Office and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner arrived at the scene.

Investigators focussed on the area around, and under the tarp in the carport area, they could be seen taking photographs and notes.

It is anticipated the victim will be transported to the Office of the Medical Examiner for an autopsy which is usually completed the next day.

At this time several sources indicate there is no danger to the public and that all people involved have been identified. The name of the victim has not been released at this time.

Updated information will be posted as it is confirmed.
