Here are the top stories today in Bedford:

  1. A shoutout to Michael Woodbury, who was recently promoted to "Assistant Vice President, Treasury Sales Officer at Bar Harbor Bank & Trust." When Bar Harbor Bank opened a new location in Bedford on Route 101 in 2021, Michael became the AVP, Branch Relationship Manager for the bank and successfully led the team there for two years! Wishing you all the best in your new position. (Marketscreener.com)
  2. Clean water is on the agenda in New Hampshire. Bedford Senator Denise Ricciardi (R), is sponsoring two bills to keep New Hampshire's water clean. When we turn on the faucet,"we expect a dependable stream of clean drinking water," Ricciardi said, but "Unfortunately, not all areas of our Granite State are meeting that expectation." The two bills for $40 million aim to keep New Hampshire's drinking water safe and clean, and to insure that wastewater is properly handled. Find out more here: (Subscription/The Union Leader)
  3. New Hampshire organizations are raising money to help Turkey and Syria after a disastrous 7.8 magnitude earthquake. The news "came as a shock" to Beytullah Misirli of the Turkish Cultural Center in Bedford. The Turkish Cultural Center, a small community of nearly 50 families, is "working with a sister organization" in New Jersey called "Embrace Relief" to raise money to help loved ones, Misirli said.
