At the early age of eleven, Kayla was deeply rooted in her community through volunteering in organic agriculture at the Educational Farm at Joppa Hill. Learning from Master Gardeners, she became a steward of the land, working to teach everyone--from families and the elderly to inner-city children--the importance of respecting Mother Nature and growing your own organic food. Becoming employed by the farm in 2021, she moved from Garden Apprentice to Assistant Manager in just two years, aiding in the oversight of all the crops, seeding, watering, education, and marketing of produce. All the while, she stayed true to educating her community, while her passion grew for our natural world. After learning of the plastic pollution crisis at age fourteen, she immediately took action by writing letters to lawmakers and researching everything she could, in order to teach others about how to reduce their plastic/environmental footprints. In 2023, she founded her own YouTube channel regarding this education, titled Earthling Impact, and still manages it to this day. She always puts 100% effort into everything she does and graduated High School with a 4.0 GPA.
She is also a current ecohydrologist lab technician at UNH and is pursuing a dual degree in Environmental Science and Environmental Engineering. Committed to improving our planet and education for future generations, she recently performed a TEDx Talk for SNHU in February 2025, advocating for increased environmental science education in schools. She performed in front of 60 audience members and thousands more livestreaming, being the only environmental-centered talk of the night.
Since her High School environmental science course got her started, she has always been passionate about helping other young people find their "niche" in the natural world, too. Since the TEDx Talk, Kayla has been featured in SNHU productions (including one for Earth Day), working with their creative team to further promote environmental education. She was also invited to become a member of the Global Citizen Circle and is now working directly with the co-founders of the organization as an Emerging Leader. She has always been devoted to making as much positive change as possible and hopes to continue doing more of this work in the future.
