MANCHESTER, NH — A man from Massachusetts is facing charges after being accused of driving more than 100 mph during a chase with New Hampshire State Police on Monday night and then crashing into a house in Manchester.

Around 7:45 p.m., Manchester police and fire and rescue teams were sent to Island Pond Road for a report of a car crashing into a house. When they arrived, they found the driver of a Tesla, Alan Piket, 37, of Tewksbury, MA, had driven the vehicle into the front of a home, “causing significant damage,” Heather Hamel, the public information officer for Manchester police, said.

“Manchester Fire personnel forced entry into the home for a safety sweep and four dogs were located inside,” she said. “The animals were unharmed and no other occupants were present.”

An investigation into the incident found New Hampshire State Police “encountered” Piket while he was driving on Interstate 93 north at a high rate of speed, Hamel said.

“Troopers attempted to stop the vehicle, but Piket did not comply and exited the highway at Exit 6 (Candia Road),” she said. “He was later determined to have been driving in excess of 100 mph on East Industrial Drive, where the posted speed limit is 30 mph.”

At the intersection of East Industrial Drive and Island Pond Road, Piket lost control of the vehicle and crashed into the house, Hamel said.

Piket was arrested on reckless conduct with a deadly weapon and criminal mischief and was scheduled for arraignment on Monday in Manchester District Court. State police also charged him with reckless operation and disobeying a police officer.
