Tourney Time: BHS Squads Take Aim at Titles

Big games on tap for Bedford ice hockey, boys and girls basketball squads.

The snow continues to fall across New Hampshire, and as the winter high school sports seasons wraps up, some of the Granite State's top basketball and ice hockey squads are also beginning to drop.

Bedford's three playoff units are not among the fallen, but significant challenges loom.

Ice Hockey

The third-ranked Bulldogs, who enjoyed a first-round bye to begin the playoffs, open Division II postseason action with a home contest against No. 6 Kingswood Regional at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Saint Anselm College. A win earns the locals a spot in a state semifinal matchup, which is currently scheduled for 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 6, at the Rinks at Exeter. Boys Basketball

The 11-6 BHS boys basketball squad, currently ranked eighth in Division I, wrap up the regular season with a home contest against 15-2 Manchester Central. Tipoff is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Friday night, and the Bulldogs may need the victory to secure a first-round home game when the playoffs begin next week.

Girls Basketball

The second-ranked Lady B's, 55-36 winners over No. 15 Manchester Central in Wednesday's playoff opener, host No. 7 Alvirne at 7 p.m. Saturday. A victory secures Bedford a spot in the Division I semifinals, which is currently scheduled for Wednesday, March 6, at 5:30 p.m. For a complete look at the bracket, click here.
