Truck Crashes Into Utility Poles Catching Fire, Causing Large Outage
Several parts of Manchester temporarily lost power after a truck crashed on Goffs Falls Road taking down utility poles and hitting a tree.
MANCHESTER, NH — Manchester Fire, police and AMR ambulance responded to a report of a vehicle into a utility pole on Goffs Falls Road near Westwood Drive Tuesday.
MFD Engine 9 arrived at the scene and reported that multiple live power lines were down and the truck was on fire. Crews stretched a hose line, knocked down the heavy fire, and waited for Eversource to arrive and shut down the power. The driver was able to be removed from the small box truck by bystanders and was transported by AMR ambulance with what appeared to be non-life-threatening injuries.
Power went out temporarily to a large area of Manchester and was restored to most areas quickly. Due to the power surges, several fire alarms came in for the South Willow Street area, causing multiple responses from Manchester Fire.
