Two Bodies Found Near Merrimack River In Manchester Over The Weekend

An unidentified 43-year-old man and 29-year-old Ashlee Krauss were found dead in different locations in Manchester.

MANCHESTER, NH — Police are investigating the discovery of two bodies found along the Merrimack River over the weekend.

The first person was discovered Saturday at 1:45 p.m. and was located in an area behind the baseball stadium on Line Drive at the boat ramp. Manchester Fire, AMR, and police responded and found the man in an area where homeless people have set up camps during the last five years.

Manchester police spokesperson Heather Hamel confirmed the person was a 43-year-old man, and at this time, the death was not considered suspicious. No name has been provided for the man at this time. The body was located in a wooded area and is adjacent to the Merrimack River.

On Sunday, just before noon, Manchester Fire, AMR, and police were called to a body discovered in the Merrimack River at the end of Chauncey Ave near the bottom of a steep embankment. New Hampshire State Police Marine Patrol was called to the scene and they are handling the investigation in conjunction with Manchester Police.

The person has been identified as Ashlee Krauss, 29, of Manchester. The investigation is active and ongoing, according to state police and an autopsy was scheduled today.

A local advocate familiar with the homeless community said both people have been part of their community.

A makeshift memorial has been set up outside the Families In Transition Shelter on Manchester Street memorializing them.
