Two Vehicle Crash Snarls Morning Traffic On I-293 South In Manchester

CPR was performed on one driver who was transported from the scene. A second person appeared to have minor injuries.

MANCHESTER, NH — Manchester firefighters, AMR ambulance, and New Hampshire State Police responded to a report of an accident involving two vehicles Monday on Interstate 293 southbound near the Brown Avenue on-ramp.

When responders arrived shortly after 8 a.m., they found two vehicles with heavy damage and one driver unresponsive. The unresponsive woman was provided CPR at the scene and rushed to the Elliot Hospital Trauma Center with serious life-threatening injuries.

State police closed the right two lanes of the highway, which backed up traffic for several miles on 293 during the morning commute.

Witnesses at the scene said that it appeared the gold-colored vehicle stopped in the travel lane for unknown reasons, and the silver vehicle was unable to stop. This information is based on preliminary statements from witnesses at the scene, and the accident continues to be investigated by state police.

The woman driving the silver vehicle was medically evaluated at the scene and transported by AMR ambulance with what appeared to be minor injuries.

At this time, the identities of those involved are unavailable, and state police are investigating the incident.
